After a decade since first lighting up Council House with a myriad of colour LED lights, City of Perth opted to undertake a significant renovation of the obsolescence lighting system.
Director of Lighting Options Australia, Ben Conick said, “we were thrilled to partner with Insight Electrical Technology in delivering the upgrade to the lighting system of Perth’s iconic Council House.”
The state-of-the-art lighting system, from Australian-made, Coolon, now floods the building’s facade and roof with stunning brilliance of colour, being capable of producing a whopping 16.5 million different colour combinations. The City of Perth will be able to customise the ‘light show’ to create images, text, animations or static coloured light.
Coolon’s architectural series Latitude 37 RGBW linear luminaires are designed explicitly for creative wall washing/grazing applications.
“The series was the best option providing for the greatest flexibility in design and configuration, and so it was perfect for the specific needs of the project application including LED colour, length, optics and output (brightness),” said Conick.
The Heritage Listed Council House is an excellent example of Post-War Modernist architecture and sits proudly in the heart of Perth’s CBD. Now, the kaleidoscope of colour lighting will illuminate the building like never before, being an optical feature on the Terrace, lighting up for events and commemorations as well as a symbol of respect during global incidents.
“Council House will remain a vibrant City landmark, and I have no doubt the building will delight visitors to the City for years to come.”
